Staying at the Iguana Ranch Iguana Ranch, accessible by city bus, and less that one hour from either Victoria or Nanaimo, is situated in the countryside between the towns of Duncan & Lake Cowichan, in the beautiful Cowichan Valley (www.cowichan.net). Whether you arrive by bicycle, automobile or on foot, young or old, if you have a good spirit of adventure you are welcome at the Iguana Ranch! (Sorry, No children under 15) Originally called The Warm Land by the First Nations peoples, the Cowichan region offers Canada's only maritime-mediterranean climatic zone. The undulating warm crystal waters of the Cowichan River, the rolling fertile valleys, surrounding Ocean and endless sunshine makes this pristine environment ideal for a wide variety of BC eco-tours or for simply relaxing in the sunny, fresh, and peaceful setting found at the Iguana Ranch. Our
spacious Westcoast-style house and Mountain Biking Club
is nestled in a 7.5 acre picturesque hideaway overlooking a gorgeous view of
a large private pond, giant old growth trees & mountains. We are economical,
and have a relaxed, casual environment; yet lots of terrific amenities.
Most things at the ranch have been hand-crafted or created using recycled, reused,
found, donated and handmade materials. With cozy, private rooms and a cute hostel-style
dorm, a large breezy main house, a stunning view, lots of shady decks, beautiful
gardens, plenty of space for relaxing and a huge pond for swimming you may actually
have to push yourself to go out and explore the area-but you should, especially
for biking, hiking and river-tubing! For a cheap trip, this is surely one of
the nicest Vancouver Island getaways you will find. To keep our place clean and safe, WE DO NOT provide a common kitchen. A continental-style breakfast comes with all accommodations, and usually includes bagels, cereals, fruit, toast, cheese and various spreads, and Coffee & Tea. The Iguana Ranch Guesthouse and Mountain Biking Club is accessible by city bus from Duncan (except Sundays) and it is easy to find using the driving directions. All travel information is located on the "GET HERE" page. OPERATING SEASON "PLEASE CALL BEFORE YOU ARRIVE, 'CAUSE WE'RE OUT HAVING FUN!" Typically, we operate full time from February 1 to November 30 but are often available on-call for guests throughout the winter as well. Occasionally, in early spring or late fall, we may close for a day or two for special excursions with our Iguana Bus. Whenever you plan to arrive, we always request guests to call in advance (250) 709-9010 or cell (250)709-5260 If, by chance, you arrive to find no one home, make yourself comfortable on the deck or in the bunkhouse-we'll get there soon enough!!
